How do you go about doing this?
The key lies not in your gift buying skills but in your investigative skills. If you go it on your own, and try to buy her the best gift yourself without outside input, you will probably not succeed. When a woman loves a piece of jewelry or perfume, it is usually because she innocently--or overtly--chose it.
So, men, what you need to do is go into stealth mode. Listen to everything she says whenever you are out at a shopping mall or when she mentions things she likes. Perhaps suggest that the two of you go into a store and see what she points out, what she likes, what she gravitates towards.
If your woman is overt, your task will be easy. Many women have become aware that you have not gotten them the best gifts in the past and they will say things like, "Honey, this would be a great gift for my birthday or Christmas. I really like it!"
Men, this is what we call an overt clue. Got it?
Other women are more discreet. They may say, "Hmmm...I might really like this." If you can, get her to narrow her choices down. You might say, "Oh, I like this too honey. Between these few, which do you like best?"
In this way, on the day that you go shopping, you will buy her exactly what she wants. Don't go shopping for a Christmas Gift for her without putting in the requisite research. You should know exactly what you are going to buy if you have put in your work.
Remember, it's not how well your shop; it's how well you research.
